Happy June 2nd, everybody! Today is National Rocky Road Day. For those who have never experienced this delightful dessert, Rocky Road is a mixture of almonds, marshmallows, and milk chocolate ice cream. Mmm, I can feel the sugar coma coming on already. Let’s get ready for summer in the best way by indulging in this classic American treat!
With a little help from Google Maps, Tek Shouts! has compiled a list of the best ice cream shops, parlors, and restaurants in the United States—and they all serve a scoop (or three) of Rocky Road. While there are many fine ice cream establishments on Google Maps, these 5 really stand out in different ways.
Without further ado, let’s celebrate June 2nd!
Jaxson’s Ice Cream Parlour & Restaurant, rated 4.1 stars and located in Dania Beach, FL.
An old fashioned ice cream parlour (they even have the “u” in their name) with a world class license plate collection, extensive menu, and a welcoming atmosphere.
Take a virtual tour of their parlour via Google Maps and experience a blast from America’s past!
Little Man Ice Cream, rated 4.6 stars and located in Denver, CO.
This Little Man has big dreams. In addition to fantastic flavors and professional catering services, this ice cream shop also participates in Scoop for Scoop! For every scoop of ice cream a customer orders, Little Man Ice Cream donates a scoop of rice to developing countries across the globe.
This shop serves quality dessert but also “exists to make a difference.” What a great way to give back to the global community!
Gunther’s Ice Cream, rated 4.6 stars and located in Sacramento, CA.
Serving Sacramento with style since 1940, Gunther’s Ice Cream offers rich ice cream, sherbets, sorbets, and yogurts. Their flavor of the month is an enticing Caramel Crackle Crunch and they have 40 ice cream flavors to choose from—including Rocky Road!
Stop by for a scoop and wave to the shops’ famous Jugglin’ Joe mascot!
Carmela Ice Cream, rated 4.7 stars and located in Pasadena, CA.
This company might not be as long-established as some of the ice cream shops on this list, but that doesn’t detract anything from the eclectic flavors it offers such as salted caramel, brown sugar vanilla bean, and lavender honey.
What makes Carmela Ice Cream even more unique is their ice cream classes, where they instruct customers in the art of making their own frozen treats. Last month, students learned how to make Rosemary Pine Nut and Lemon Basil. My taste buds are tingling just thinking about it!
Rococo Artisan Ice Cream, rated 4.8 stars and located in Kennebunkport, ME.
Last—though certainly not least—on our list is Rococo Artisan Ice Cream. Their handcrafted, locally sourced ice cream is made in small batches to ensure only the highest quality product for their customers.
If you aren’t sold after reading that, know that their menu includes unique spins on classic flavors, like their Spicy Rocky Road.
